Okazaki Meiji Sakaba Programs

Park
Okazaki

A street of stalls from the Meiji period, filled with delicacies from Kyoto and chic Japanese sakes. The flickering light from the bold glowing lanterns illuminates a night festival for chic adults, with mini live outdoor concerts to liven up the evening.

Jingu
Heian

Where noh, flower-arranging, and crafts intersect, based on the concept of “an evening at the court.” A nighttime art experiment unfolding at the Otenmon Gate and on the white sand.

Rohm
Modern
ROHM Theatre Kyoto –
Twilight Parade
Direct your attention to “Immersive Theatre,” an experiential performance for one night only which spins a fantastical Japanesque world through creative dance. Performed by the critically acclaimed dance company DAZZLE.
Kyoto Modern Terrace –
the Rokumeikan Collection
Inspired by the ballroom dances of ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy a show where feminine images are created to symbolize the eras from Meiji to the present day by some of the top hair artists.

Traditional
Kyoto

During the Meiji period, Japan’s crafting techniques spread worldwide, amazing audiences. Craftsmen who have inherited this spirit are gathering here from Kyoto and beyond.

Art
Municipal

The main hall of the Museum of Art is currently being refurbished with a view to reopening in the 2019 fiscal year. For one night only, an art space appears within the normally off limits attached wing.

Zoo
Kyoto

The Night Zoo area is where a diverse range of artists give performances. This is the other-dimensional world known as Meiji.
